Later on we got to know that the noises I heard were hikers, who observed us hiding the treasure. They called the police immediately and we landed in jail. They can only keep us for a couple of days though, because we aren’t 18 yet. Mr X raised an ad against us. Life isn’t fair, but one day Mr X is going to get everything back. I promise.

As fast as we can, we hide our treasure in the ground. Suddenly I hear something behind me. “What was that?”. Am I asking Rex. “What are you talking about? There is nothing! Just help me hiding the treasure.”

This by the way, was the only reason we did that. Rex’s dad is in jail, because of a deed he hasn’t committed. My younger sister is very sick and needs to see a doctor as soon as possible. For helping them we need money and Mr X gave us the perfect opportunity.

Rex and I are trying to open Mr X’s door. We do not need a key for that, we simply need a code. It is one of these expensive things, that are supposed to be safer than a normal keyhole. Unfortunately we don’t even know how long the code is. If we waste too many trials, the alarm will turn on. Okay it seem as if we have to do it the old fashion way. “Hey, Rex. How about smashing a window instead of wasting our time with this damn code?”. “Makenna, you know that this will turn on the alarm!” Hm. Rex is right, but at least we could still sneak inside if we smashed a window.

After 10 minutes I am able to persuade Rex. As expected the alarm turns on, but it cannot stop us from sneaking inside. Wow. This house is huge. It’s almost like a small palace. I’m taking as much as my arms can carry, but only the things that seem to be expensive. We have to hurry up, otherwise the police is going to catch us. When our arms are full we start running. We are running away from this place and keep running until we reach the forest, where we can hide our treasure. “I can’t believe it Kenny, we made it!”. “Yes, we made it Rex! Now we can finally help our families!”

I actually never tried to burgle into someones house, but this is an emergency. Before Mr X moved into our city it never came to my mind that there are people who are that rich. Most of the people in my town are poor. Isn’t it kind of unfair, that some people can live in luxury and others can’t? And those people who have too much money don’t even want to share? If I had the money of Mr X, I would help as many people as I could.

Now Rex and I are standing in front of Mr X’s frontdoor. We don’t know a lot about Mr X, but there are some things we know for sure. He is rich, arrogant and lives by himself. We  don’t know his Name though, that’s why we call him Mr X

 

Have you ever seen one of those detective movies? If you haven’t you just need to know how easy it always looks to crack a code. In reality though, it is far more difficult. Rex and I spent the last five weeks researching how to crack passwords. It is not as easy as it sounds. Many people use the names of their children or their partner, but Mr X didn’t do us this favor.
